Andrew Ek was born in Evanston, Illionis in 1975 and studied Industrial Design Technology at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. His work has been featured extensively in galleries throughout Chicago, Milwaukee, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles.
Mr. Ek's oil paintings often depict solitary female figures wandering through endless hospital corridors, subway tunnels, or revisiting ghostly childhood dwellings in a magic realism style. The images convey a sense of orgasmic tragedy frozen, like a movie still, extracted from a larger enigmatic narrative that unfolds before the viewer. |
