Dr. Ben Marxhausen is Professor Emeritus of Concordia Universty in Irvine California with over 40 years of experience in teaching art at all grade levels - kindergarten through university - including experimental work among the mentally challenged. He is a nationally known speaker, and his works of art can be found in private collections, churches, and schools throughout the United States and beyond. Marxhausen earned a degree in education at Concordia College, Seward, Nebraska, in 1958. He holds a Master's Degree in Art Education and Studio Art from the University of Minnesota, and he completed post graduate work in painting and sculpture at Eastern Michigan University, Chicago Art Institute, and the University of California, Irvine. In 1996 Marxhausen was conferred with the Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree by Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. Beyond classroom teaching, Marxhausen has conducted numerous art workshops throughout the United States for adults and youth and served as art consultant for architects, publishers, schools, and churches. After retirement from his career in art education, Marxhausen continues to be very active in art through studio work in painting and sculpture and offering consultation, lectures, and workshops to various groups. Marxhausen has had numerous articles and other works published including illustrations for children's books written by his wife Joanne Marxhausen. Dedicated to the development of creativity and spirituality through artistic expression, Marxhausen works with painting(oil and acrylic), multimedia, three dimensional design, Metal and wood sculpture.
