Claudia Almansa is a Canadian weaver born in Colombia. She lives and works in Laval, Quebec, since 1996. She has participated in group exhibits and in craft shows, particularly the Salon des métiers d'art in Montréal.
Almansa creates hand woven clothing and accessories like jackets, ponchos, shawls, scarves and handbags. She uses different techniques and fibers, but Wool remains her favorite material.
Since 2002, Almansa develops her Wayuu collection, inspired by the Wayuu people, an indigenous group from Colombia and Venezuela. The collection represents the creation of men according to the Wayuu myths and includes 6 series of textiles.
