My name is Dane Kai Kondo. I am 23 years old, of Japanese ethnicity, and born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. On my spare time I dive, fish, and surf. I enjoy relaxing in the ocean, and I have taken my love for it and transposed it into my art. Gyotaku is the traditional Japanese art of fishprinting. I use specimens caught by myself or my friends in the crystal clean waters of Hawaii. Each gyotaku is taken from a real fish and relays a snapshot of the beauty that I am able to see when I go out in the ocean. |
