Each item that I make is unique. I collect wild materials such as twigs, seaweed, leaves, and more, weaving with the Japanese belief that plants have spirits that are passed on through the finished craft, as is the spirit of the basket weaver.
I've been weaving for 19 years, and teaching workshops for 18 years. I've taught people of all ages, from first grade through senior citizens. I offer a variety of basketry classes, including my own personal designs, in addition to papermaking, silk papermaking, and basic bookbinding.
I graduated from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1976, and also Utah State Univ., Logan 1985. My second degree is in Elementary Education, and since then, I have been working part-time in the educational field, and as a basketmaker. |
