I was born in San Francisco, the child of a military career man. Both parents strongly discouraged me from pursuing a career either as an artist or a writer, this, despite both family trees being littered with succesful artists. For the first fifty years of my life I found ways of incorporating my art into other professions, such as leaning heavily towards graphics as an editor of a newspaper, and using art therapy as a clinical social worker.

Since 2001 I have had the time and the luxury of devoting myself solely to art and writing, first, by furthering my education in these areas, and finally, by turning my imagination loose on canvas. My artwork reflects my childhood in Germany as well as my determination to depict ordinary women with admiration and respect.
