Jesus Ruiz was born in Brooklyn NY to a Spanish father and a Prto. Rican mother and raised in Puerto Rico. He has been painting since the aged of thirteen. A self taught painter, he supplemented his natural abilities by studying drawing at early age with a Spanish painter Jose Azaustre residing in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
He also studied at the department of Fine Arts at the Catholic University of Ponce Puerto Rico. In New York he went to Germain School of Photography, Graduating in Cinematography, Video Tape and Photography. In the mid-eighties he worked as a free-lance photographer for several magazines in NY and PR.
