I want to draw portraits that spark an emotion. I’m not concerned with drawing a likeness of a person that their mother would want. I want to capture something that would make a total stranger connect with the story of that person. When someone views my artwork I want them to react, even if that reaction is "I wouldn’t want to meet him in a dark alley." Then I know I’ve done what I wanted to do.
As a self-taught artist I am constantly evolving with my work. Absorbing all the knowledge I can from books, magazines, articles and discussions with my artist friends, I am constantly working to improve my art. Through many years of sketching, painting and experimenting with new styles I am striving to create a look (and feel) all my own. |
