L. K. Bailey is an artist that works in acrylic and pastel media on sanded board, sanded paper, and canvas. His painting style is loose. His attitude is creative. He typically uses his own original charcoal drawings and graphite sketches to develop his paintings. Some of his paintings are abstract in form.

Mr. Bailey's painting subject matter is derived from where he has lived and visited most often, New Mexico, Colorado, Hawaii, Utah, Texas and Oklahoma. He paints landscapes, buildings and Southwestern scenes.

His art studies began in 1995 with watercolor classes. He has studied with Ruth Loucks, Cletus Smith, and Ken Hosmer in watercolor and Dale G. Martin and Albert Handell in pastels and oils. L. K. Bailey's current painting interests are in pastels and acrylics.

He is most influenced by Nicolai Fechin and Leon Gaspard, and contemporary artists including, Ramon Kelley, Oleg Stavrosky, Harley Brown, B.C. Nowlin, William Matthews, and past instructors Albert Handell and Dale G. Martin.

L.K. Bailey lives in Victoria, Texas, in South Texas between Corpus Christi and Houston. He has been invited to demonstrate pastels for 3-years at the Victoria Art League. In 2001 he taught a 2-day course in beginning pastels for the Victoria Art League. He is a member of the Ponca City Art Association, Ponca City, Oklahoma, and the Victoria Art League,Victoria, Texas.

Mr. Bailey is available for demonstrations and classes in beginning pastels.
