Manuel "Mano" Nogueira, was born in Havana, Cuba. He came to the United States as part of the Pedro Pan exodus at the age of 12 with his brother and lived with family friends until he was reunited with his parents when they fled from Cuba four years later. Mano graduated as an electrical engineer, but always felt the need to express himself artistically, inititially playing guitar and now through his art.

Mano, began painting professionally more than eight years ago. He is a self-taught artist with a unique style that features bold and contrasting colors, predominately of faces and the female form.

Mano draws inspiration from his favorite painters; Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Alexej Jawlenski, Juan Carlos Breceda and Marc Chagall. Mano's best ideas come from literature and nature. In his own words, "Both lead me on journeys through the imagination where images converge and forms and colors captivate me. Observation of the mind's creation allows me to assimilate and recreate, in my own style, the shades of color and images of form".

Mano's work has been shown in a number of cultural events, art festivals and various galleries. Recently his work was recognized by the Miami Arts & Entertainment Council at the Mayor's Gallery, Miami City Hall. His art hangs in numerous private collections throughout the United States and South America.

Mano lives in Coral Gables, Florida with his wife, their two dogs, his many canvases and paints.
