Nick Biagini was born on June 27, 1962 in Gioiosa Marea, Sicily, Italy. His family arrived in Canada in 1967. Nick attended Neil McNeil High School in Scarborough. He attended University of Toronto receiving an Honors Degree in 1984. He received a B.Ed from York University in 1991 and completed a Masters in Education degree from York in 2001. Nick is a self taught artist who paints primarily in oils. He has had five successful exhibitions in Toronto and has completed several commissioned works. He loves painting the landscapes of his beloved Gioiosa Marea on the Mediterranean coast and of the rugged Ontario first captured by his favorite artist, Tom Thomson. Today he has developed an affinity for the avant-garde and abstract poetic expressions which color has to offer the artist.
Presently Nick focuses primarily on expressing himself through abstract pieces that contain a social commentary. He is experimenting with mixed media in order to produce highly textural pieces. To this artist the work for the viewer must evoke an inner discourse that is also present when reading poetry. This artist’s love of poetry is quite evident in his works.
