|Rita Mittleman is a self-taught artist who has been working as a folk artist for approximately 5 years. She paints using primarily acrylic paints on her items. Her artwork is graphic, whimsical and contemporary. Color is her forte and what brings her art to life. The basis of her work is reused wood items, from furniture to salt and pepper shakers. If a found item has some aesthetic appeal to her she'll reclaim it and paint it. Most of the items are painted as functional pieces for the home. Rita feels that the recycled nature of her artwork adds to the aesthetic value of each piece, which are all one-of-a-kind.
