Born in 1949, in Philadelphia, PA, Ruth Robertson spent the first six years of her life living with her grandparents. In 1956 she accompanied her parents to Washington, DC where she has lived for most of her life. Ruth Robertson is well known in the Washington Metropolitan Area for her figurative works. Her sensuous interpretaion of the figure has become a hallmark of her work. Although best known for her black and white photographs of nudes she is also well known for her mixed media works and paintings. Her work has received critical acclaim in the Mid-Atlantic region where it has been heavily exhibited, and is highly sought by collectors wordwide. Robertson's work has been purchased by private collectors throughout the United States, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Switzerland. She is represented by District West Fine Art in the Washington, DC area, and her work is available through The Gallery On Broadway in Ft. Myers, FL. Ruth Robertson's work has also been sold through sothebys.com. Robertson has exhibited her work at The Museum Of Contemporary Art in DC, where the museum hosted a solo exhibition of her work. Her photographs will be exhibited in Havana, Cuba in July of 2002. Ruth Robertson holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. She spent two years in West Germany pursuing her art studies from 1970- 1972. Ruth Robertson lives and maintains a studio in the Washington, DC area of the United States. She is a listed artist.
