Vidal Centeno is a visual artist that lives and works in New York City. He specializes in projects that combine, assemblage, installation, text, and various other media. Utilizing a variety of materials and modalities Vidal is currently working on a project that explores systems that arise as a result of the process of fragmentation through the assembly of constructs.
Vidal was born and raised in New York City. He studied painting and graphic design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn from 1978-1982 and was a artist -in -residence at El Taller Boricua ( The Puerto Rican Arts Workshop) in New York City. Vidal has exhibited at the Longwood Gallery in the Bronx, Post Platano / Ante Formalism in 2005, Gallery 128, Martha & Me in 2004, and at Coclico, New Paintings in 2001 and 2002.
My primary interest is systems and the manner in which these systems become manifest. It is this period of manifestation when thought and matter coalesce that is especially intriguing. Ultimately all of these constructs are my attempts at rendering this coalescence of thought and matter in space.
