Blue Sediment

Overlap have dazzled audiences at music festivals around the world over the last decade with their highly original VJing and AV sets. Their leftfield music videos have been exhibited at the ICA, NFT, V&A and Tate Britain. The last few years found them creating forest installations for the Hove and Electric Picnic boutiq arts and music festivals in Norway and Ireland, recutting and performing EA Dupont’s silent 1929 classic “Piccadilly” at the British Film Institute, and VJing in Ibiza, Latvia, Spain and the UK.

Overlap’s main area of exploration is the intangible triangle of memory, fantasy and location. After many years of making and mixing imagery as VJ’s they have developed a way of abstracting and combining imagery and sound with a musical sensibility as opposed to a narrative one. The inclusion of recycled and re-composited content from old books and forgotten TV commercials adds a popular hook to everything they do
