Blue Sediment
Overlap: Michael Denton and Anna McCrickard produce abstracted evocative images in mediums ranging from oil painting to digital sequencing.
Overlap videos are screened at art and club venues internationally and on ambient TV. The paintings, influenced by their electronic work, employ chance and control, resulting in tranquil but powerful friezes in oil. Overlap’s prints are created using digital photography and computer manipulation and explore the distillation of movement into a single image.
Time-based media and paintings converge in overlap’s nearstill imaging. These ‘electronic paintings’ can be made to any screen size, using discs or online updates. Initially appearing static, nearstills gradually shift and change - operating over an extended period of time.
