Jan Lis |
| Biography: Jan Lis' Key West style watercolor paintings capture the timeless quality
of an exotic south. Her Old Florida paintings depict lush tropical foliage
crowding weathered clapboard houses, and Spanish stucco walls.
Using flowing watercolor washes, Jan contrasts the bright Florida sunlight
with cool shadows to produce paintings of unusual beauty and sensitivity.
Jan attended the Cleveland Institute of Art, and received her Bachelor of
Fine Arts Degree from Ohio University. She is a milti-talented artist
who has written and illustrated several Children's Books as well as being a graphic arts designer.
Her widely exhibited work has won numerous awards in national competitions, including The Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, OH, and Watercolor USA, at the Springfield Museum of Art in Springfield, MO.
Jan is included in many corporate and public collections including the State of Florida Art in Public Buildings Program, and the Brevard County Florida Art in Public Places Program.
