Bobby Abate

Biography: Bobby Abate (New Haven, 1973) came of age as a social misfit glued to his personal computer and submerged in a digital underground charged by fantasy, role-play, sexuality, and vice -- dynamics that continuously shape his darkly humorous and sensual works in film, video, 3D animation, and installation. Bobby’s first feature, Certain Women, made in collaboration with Peggy Ahwesh, premiered as an official selection of the 2004 International Film Festival Rotterdam and won Best Feature at the Chicago Underground Film Festival. Bobby’s 2001 trilogy Real Videos were recognized as one of the top experimental works of 2001 in the Village Voice and One Mile Per Minute was honored as one of the top video works of 2002 in Film Comment Magazine.
