Deborah Crofts
 | Biography: Abstract figurative paintings inspired by a mixture of environmental concerns. Consciously
choosing opposing methods and drawing on a vocabulary of hard edged graphics and painterly
brush strokes, the work makes bold statements whilst also embracing colour.
"I have always felt in great awe of the natural world. The expression of this holds a child-like quality
and excitement. The changing of the sky, lightening storms, the crashing waves, woodlands and
breathtaking landscapes have all enthused and influenced me. There are definite undercurrents of
global concern present in what I do but my main motivation is ambivalent feelings about the future
in the face of a changing world."
The majority are acrylics but on occasion include other mediums such as gloss paints, oil pastels
and pencil. Currently based in Folkestone in the Creative Quarter. Studied in East London with a BA
in Fine Art.
