James Morris
 | Biography: Studied Ba fine art at the university of Sunderland, England, and graduated in 2001.
My paintings are influenced by a wide range of modern art. My earliest influences were the surrealists. During my degree course I learnt about other movements and felt surrealism with it's prescriptions, was not the way forward.
My work starts off as a vague idea of form which is expressed quickly and simply. I gradually work new forms into it. Then, using overpainting to hide or recover areas, I try to generate some sense of a coherent surface structure.
