Since 1989 Ki has been attempting, in a kind of Minimalist act of a conquest, to seize the immeasurable by means of fragility and simplicity, with almost nothing. It is principally his choice of material that gives his work its clear and mysterious direct elegance and also an expressive feeling. Ki paints since years only with acrylic paint on paper and has been created thousands of face images. Almost mask like, dramatic portraits of friends and people of the street.
The presentation of people is central to Robert Ki´s paintings and drawings. The Face attacks his special attention.
