Digital Consciousness News -- Fifth Edition February 2000
The Digital Consciousness Artist Database
Digital Consciousness is a public database of emerging artists
including authors and thinkers. It assists in publishing artistic
works and ideas on the Internet.
Each artist has a dynamic registry generally consisting of an
image of the artist's work or summary of her ideas, and a brief
biography.
There are seven new Registered Artists:
- Stephen Anderson -- His current series: Burned Fingers
series of 1,000 examines the gestures and positions of hands
and the varied meanings that occur; from love to anger to
alienation to enlightenment. The series began in August 1997
and has a predicted finish date of late 2000, done with a
blowtorch and oil paint and mixed media on wood.
- Patrick Buckohr
- Nathan David James -- Attending the Ontario College of
Art and Design. Neo-cubism
- John Kaufmann -- Realistic illustration for publishing and advertisment.
Subjects include sci-fi, fantasy, history and natural science.
- Jamie Lees -- Objectivist author.
- Alex Levin -- Since 1992 has been studying with Prof.
Elron Baruch Chairman of Israel Artist Association. The
majority of the paintings are displayed in private exhibits
of Israel, Belgium, USA, Australia and Russia. The main
painting styles are Surrealism and Realism.
- Peter E Tanner -- Mid 70's show artist; Photographer/
photojournalist; Laser Artist (Vancouver Planetarium)

The Digital Color Art Awards

accepts nominations for art awards, juries
the nominees on the basis of art published on the
Internet, and promotes the winning artists.
The Digital Color Jury includes renowned
artists and gallery owners form around
the world. Winners are announced on the
23rd of each month. Nominations close on
the 9th of each month to leave ample time
for deliberation.
Bruce Burkholder.
Bruce Burkholder is the February Digital Color Artist
of the Month.
Bruce is a contemporary realist painter. He has received
numerous cash and purchase awards through juried state,
regional, and national competitions. The Kansas Artists'
Postcard Series, a project of the Community Art Agencies of
Kansas has featured his work several times and it has been
published by the Kansas Department of Commerce in The
Best of Kansas Arts and Crafts Catalog.

The Museums and Photographs Menu
This month the top of the Museums and Photographs Menu
contains four galleries of late 19th century and early
twentieth century art from the permanent collection of the
Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Beautiful works of Thomas Hart
Benton, Elihu Vedder, Winslow Homer, Childe Hassam, Mary Cassatt
and Maurice Prendergast are featured.
