Not unlike good blues, Jason Shawn Alexander's work often explores the darker side of life. The
subject is suspended in moments of pain or sorrow. The ultimate expression, however, is one of
survival, if not hope.
Alexander, from Tennessee, now resides in Silverlake, California. Primarily rooted in graphic novel
and sequential art, he has done illustration work for D.C. Comics, Dark Horse, Image Comics and
Oni Press. He has also contibuted artwork to projects produced by Warner Brothers, Hasboro, White
Wolf Inc. and Dalmation Press.
He began oil painting seriously in 2002 and has had no formal art training. Since 2002, his gallery
work has been exhibited in Los Angeles, Portland, Memphis, and Savannah.
