Russell Scott-Skiner is a primarily self taught artist who has been raised throughout several of the counties in England. Born on an RAF base in Lincolnshire on October 18th 1979, his family then moved to Kent until he was 10, then his step fathers career as a vet moved him and his two older brothers to Norfolk. There he resided throughout his teenage years until completing school at aged 18.
He then embarked upon a degree in psychology at Loughborough University. Whilst at Loughborough Russell was meeting a friend at the university's art department which he describes as a pivotal moment of clarity."Walking into that art department changed my life. I knew straight away from that first breathe of a studio's air that I had made a wrong career choice. That scent of paint mixed with turps and primed canvas' ready and virgin without a single fleck or mark upon them. I understood then what alcoholic's refer to as a moment of clarity." |
