85 inch diameter
hole to hole | total cut
These calculations are for 1-inch EMT with an outer diameter of 1.16 inches.

flatten 3.5 inches on each end to ensure the flat tab transitions cleanly into the round pipe.

To maintain the geometry for a 85 inch diameter dome add 7 inches to the hole to hole lengths. This will use up the 120 inches of the 10 foot tube.

Strut A, 30 pieces, the shortest, to be painted green
29.63 inches | 36.63 inches

Strut B, 55 pieces, the medium size, to be painted blue
34.30 inches | 41.30 inches

Strut C, 80 pieces, the longest, leave the original silver
35.05 inches | 42.05 inches

36.63 + 41.30 + 42.05 = 119.98

46 Bolts: 3/8" diameter, 2.5" length (Grade 5 hex head).

46 Nuts: 3/8" Nyloc locking nuts.

92 Washers: 3/8" x 1.5" wide heavy-duty fender washers

10 foot pipe:
30 cut A B C
25 cut B C
13 cut C C

fabrication
cut the EMT to the calculated total cut length.
A sawzall with a fresh blade cuts fastest but a bandsaw leaves a better cut.

Crush the last 3.5 inches of each tube end flat. Maybe use a hydraulic press. Ensure both flat ends on a single pipe lie in the exact same plane (not twisted).

Drill the Center Holes: Mark your Hole-to-Hole dimension precisely. Drill a 7/16 center hole on each flat face.

Add the Direct Bend: Put the flat end into a vise and bend it slightly inward to an angle of roughly 10- 12 degrees. This creates the natural curvature of the dome so the struts line up evenly
the build
build the first level like the bamboo dome

for the second level
five pentagons:
anchor five As spreading outward to form a star
frame the star with 4 Bs
attach the fifth side to a B on the top of the first level.
25 As 20 Bs.

five triangles
two Cs, one B
attach the C-C angle to the C-C point on the top of the first level
5 B's 10 C's.

60 level two pieces: 25 A, 25 B and 10 C

stack the nodes
stacking the flat tabs in the wrong order will cause the joints to twist. Use the Inside-Out Stack Method:

Push the bolt through a fender washer.
Push the bolt from the inside of the dome facing out.
Slide on the horizontal base struts first.
Slide on the vertical rising struts next.
Add a top fender washer and a nyloc locking nut.
build the third tier
Form upper triangles: Construct an upward-pointing ring of triangles using alternating sets of Struts B and Struts C.
Cap the third level: Tie the top of this tier together horizontally using a ring of 10 Struts C.
Assemble the roof crown: On the ground, build your final roof pentagon out of Struts
45 Level 3 pieces: 30C, 10B and 5A
